BYRD is a vocalist/songwriter who writes and performs in a variety of genres, with a focus in writing and covering Contemporary Pop, Indie- Rock, electronic, and Acoustic Folk. With over a decade background in performing and entertainment management, her story has lead her to have a true appreciation for all aspects of sharing in live music; as both an artist revisiting her craft and an awarded 30 Under 30 leader in the live entertainment industry.

BYRD has always been passionate about creating and sharing the rare type of magic that comes from a group of people experiencing a moment together and connecting through music.

Kat (BYRD) was born in 1994, in the greater Boston area. From a very young age, she knew she loved performing and creating art;  and grew up doing theater in Framingham, MA; her first more mature role being Fantine in Les Miserables at age 13. A few years after her parents divorce, Kat spent her high school years in the town of Stoughton, MA. Those early days in her career she spent her time collaborating in Jazz and church choirs, songwriting, and hosting Sunday Brunch sets at local coffee shops in Stoughton. At age 17 she received an award from Berklee College of Music for her Jazz Vocal Skat Solo at their Jazz Festival Competition featuring student groups from across the nation.

She spent 2013-2017 in the city of Hartford, CT, and graduated with a Music Degree for Voice and Music Business Management. It was during this time that she released her first single “Restless” recorded at Atlantic Records in NY, under her maiden name. She worked in a variety of industry related roles as well as paying her way through school in order to continue this dream of creating experiences for others. While studying her craft, she also worked and interned in various roles behind the scenes with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, The Bushnell, and Playhouse On Park, in Hartford, CT. 2016 took her to Nashville, TN where she had the chance to perform on the Broadway strip in Music City, as well as working in Promotions for Sony Nashville’s Country artist roster.

BYRD has since lived all over the country, traveling within the live events industry and considers the Pacific Northwest; specifically the greater Seattle area her chosen home for the last 7 years. Beyond Kat being a chicken mama to Nugget, and just loving most creatures; BYRD, as an idea evolved as a symbol of growth within her own story as an artist. She aims to connect and empower those around her on their own healing journey through music, to find their wings and freedom in life’s rhythm of ups and downs. The artist persona, BYRD is a collection of all of the people, nomadic adventures, and experiences that influence her songwriting.

She’s spent her 20s building her career behind the scenes in the music and live events industry, and was awarded a 30 Under 30 Award in Venue management by the prestigious IAVM in 2023. While BYRD has always been about creating live experiences for others, her passion as an artist is to connect on a more personal level with people through her writing, collaborations, and covers that celebrate vulnerability and variations of human experience.

BYRD is passionate about people and sharing energy and hoping to leave each place and person better than she found them ~ This next chapter is about her re-finding the artist version and sharing that; hoping to inspire others to create too.
